Shoulder Injury Treatment

Shoulder pain affects many athletes. Normal shoulder functional movement and strength is crucial for Sport and everyday life. Back2Fitness Sports & General Injury Clinic Poole, Bournemouth and Wareham treats a range of shoulder injuries.

The shoulder complex consists of a ball and socket joint as well as the acromioclavicular and streno-clavicular joints. The shoulders dynamics stability and range of movement comes from the rotator cuff muscles, Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor and Subscapularis. Many of the shoulder's structures can be injured or damaged.

Shoulder Impingement Treatment

Shoulder Impingement is a frequent shoulder complaint with a structure being pinch or 'impinged' within the joint. This is seen in athletes, tennis players, swimmers as the conditions are sometimes referred to as Swimmers Shoulder, Throwers and any activity that had overhead repetitive movement.

The common cause of shoulder impingement comes from thickening of the Supraspinatus tendon or thickening/inflamed Subacromial bursa.

The dysfunction of the shoulder will be analysed treating any muscle imbalances, weakness and tightness, reducing any supraspinatus thickening and other associated issues to resolve the injury.

Other Shoulder Pain Causes

Rotator Cuff Tear are a common shoulder complaint with one or more of the four rotator cuff muscles being damaged usually the Supraspinatus is muscle frequently torn. Subacromial Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa in the Subacromial space within the shoudler and can be a cause of shoulder impingement.
